Carson City is the capital of the state of Nevada 

Carson City is located in the western part of Nevada, near the border with California. It was founded in 1858 as a trading post during the Gold Rush and became the capital of the Nevada Territory in 1861. It was named after the famous frontiersman Kit Carson.

We  visited Carson City on 12/25/2023 and spent three days touring the surrounding area including Reno, Lake Tahoe and Virginia City. 

Carson City has numerous casinos, museums, art galleries, and historic sites. The Nevada State Capitol is a prominent building in the city. It houses the state legislature and the offices of the governor.

Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy various recreational activities such as hiking, biking, fishing, and water sports  in the nearby Sierra Nevada mountains,  on the Truckee River and at Lake Tahoe.
