Hilo is a city located on the northeastern side of the Island of Hawaii, also known as the Big Island. Hilo is known as the wettest place in the US with an average of 130 inches of rain per year. Downtown Hilo has numerous museums, art galleries, shops, and restaurants. The museums include the Lyman Museum, Pacific Tsunami Museum and Imiloa Astronomy Center. The Liliuokalani Gardens contains Japanese-style fishponds, pagodas, and rock gardens.

It was raining when we visited Hilo on 12/19/2023. So, we only spent a short time there. We passed by the Liliuokalani Gardens and visited the Big Island Candies before continuing to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
