We last visited Lakeland on 11/22/2025. While there, we visited Bonnet Springs Park and then the downtown area where we visited the Saturday Market, Lake Mirror, and Lake Morton.

Lakeland lives up to its nickname, the “City of Lakes,” with more than 30 lakes spread throughout the area. Lake Mirror, located in the heart of downtown, is one of the most popular spots. The lake features a paved promenade, landscaped gardens, and views of historic buildings that reflect Lakeland’s early 20th-century charm. Lake Morton is known for it’s swans which are descendants of swans donated to the city by Queen Elizabeth.

Nearby Lake Hollingsworth is another favorite for walking, jogging, and cycling. Its 3-mile path offers peaceful water views and is popular with both locals and visitors looking for outdoor relaxation.

Lakeland is home to a rich collection of historic architecture. Downtown features beautifully preserved buildings from the early 1900s, giving the city a distinctive character. One of Lakeland’s most unique attractions is Florida Southern College, which houses the largest single-site collection of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture in the world.
