What to see and do in Lincoln, New Hampshire

Lincoln is a town in New Hampshire’s White Mountains near Franconia Notch State Park.

The Ice Palace in New Hampshire is a popular winter attraction located in the town of Lincoln. It is a massive structure made entirely out of ice, which is constructed every year during the winter months.

on 1/24/2016, I visited the Ice Palace and enjoyed walking through it.  It was a sunny day which enhanced the blue color of the ice in the structure.

In the Winter, the Ice Palace attracts thousands of people to the area. The Ice Palace is typically open from mid-January to mid-February, depending on weather conditions. Visitors can explore the interior of the palace, which features stunning ice sculptures, frozen walls,  tunnels, towers, and archway, and even an ice slide. The palace is lit up at night, creating a magical, otherworldly atmosphere.

The construction of the Ice Palace is a community effort, with volunteers using chainsaws and other tools to cut ice blocks from a nearby pond. These blocks are then transported to the palace site, where they are carefully arranged and fused together using snow and water.

In addition to the Ice Palace, visitors to Lincoln can enjoy a range of winter activities, including skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. The town is located near the White Mountains, which offer stunning views and a range of outdoor adventures.
