Ocean Cay is a private Caribbean island located in the western part of the Bahamas, near Bimini

It is owned and operated by MSC Cruises, a Swiss-based cruise line company. The island was originally a sand extraction site, but MSC Cruises transformed it into a tropical paradise. When a ship is in port, the crew from the ship operate several dining options on the island, including a food truck, a buffet restaurant, and a seafood restaurant. Guests can also enjoy a variety of bars, from a beachside bar to a champagne bar.

On our cruise from Port Canaveral, we spent two days (10/4/2021 and 10/5/2021) at the island. Our balcony was on the port side and overlooked the island. Lighthouse beach is within walking distance of the ship and it is a great place for swimming and snorkeling. At night, a lightshow is presented at the lighthouse.  We saw lots of fish near the lighthouse.

We visited Ocean Cay again on 9/17/2022 and on 11/21/2023.  On both of these visits, we only spent one day on the island.

The island spans over 95 acres and is surrounded by crystal-clear waters and white sand beaches. There are plenty of opportunities for water-based activities, including snorkeling, scuba diving, paddleboarding, and kayaking. The island also boasts a 7,000-square-foot lagoon pool,

One unique feature of Ocean Cay is its commitment to environmental sustainability. MSC Cruises has invested heavily in coral reef restoration and marine conservation efforts on the island, and guests can participate in educational programs on these topics during their visit.

Overall, Ocean Cay is a beautiful and unique destination for those looking to enjoy a tropical island experience with a focus on environmental responsibility.
