What to see and do in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Oklahoma City is the capital of the state of Oklahoma

The city was founded during the Land Run of 1889, when settlers rushed in to stake their claims on the land that had been opened for settlement by the US government. Oklahoma City grew rapidly in the early 20th century as an oil boomtown, and later became a major transportation hub and commercial center for the region.

While in Oklahoma City on 4/15/2014, I visited the Oklahoma City National Memorial and while downtown, and visited the water canal in the Bricktown entertainment district.

The city was the scene of the April 19, 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, in which 168 people died. It was the deadliest terror attack in the history of the United States until the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Today, Oklahoma City is a thriving urban area with a diverse economy that includes oil and gas, agriculture, healthcare, and aviation. The city also has a strong tourism industry, with attractions such as the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum, the Oklahoma City Zoo, and the Bricktown entertainment district.

Oklahoma City is known for its friendly, welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community. The city has a rich cultural scene, with several museums, theaters, and galleries showcasing the art, history, and culture of the region. The city also hosts several major festivals and events throughout the year, including the Oklahoma City Arts Festival and the Oklahoma State Fair.
