Fort Worth, Texas is often described as "Where the West Begins." 

Fort Worth, Texas is a part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, often referred to as the DFW Metroplex.  Founded in 1849 as a military outpost, Fort Worth has a strong cowboy and Western heritage. It's heritage is celebrated in places like the Stockyards National Historic District, which showcases the city's cattle-ranching past.

We visited Fort Worth on 7/19/2024 for several days and stayed at the Worthington Renaissance Hotel downtown. While there, we toured the downtown are and visited the zoo and the stockyards.  

The Fort Worth Stockyards are a major draw for visitors. They offer a glimpse into the city's cattle-ranching history, complete with daily cattle drives, rodeos, and Western-themed shops and restaurants. Fort Worth hosts various annual events, such as the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, which is one of the largest and oldest rodeos in the country. 

The Fort Worth Zoo is highly regarded and features a wide range of animals and interactive exhibits. It’s consistently ranked as one of the top zoos in the country.

Fort Worth is home to several notable museums including the Sid Richardson museum of Wild West paintings by Remington and Russell, the Kimbell Art Museum known for its impressive collection and architecture, and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, which focuses on contemporary works. The Amon Carter Museum of American Art features a rich collection of American art.
