Established in 1733, Savannah is a port city separated from South Carolina by the Savannah River. It’s known for manicured parks, horse-drawn carriages and antebellum architecture. Its historic district is filled with cobblestone squares and parks shaded by oak trees covered with Spanish moss. Tybee Island and Ft Pulaski are located 18 miles east of Savannah at the mouth of the Savannah River.

I visited Savannah on 6/16/2020 and walked the downtown area. Afterwards, I drove out to Tybee Island on the coast.

Founded in 1733, Savannah was one of the first cities established in the British colony of Georgia. The city played an important role in the American Revolution and the Civil War, and its rich history is evident in the many museums, monuments, and historic homes that are scattered throughout the city.
