Cueva del Indio, Puerto Rico: Natural Rock Arches and Breathtaking Views

Cueva del Indio is located near ​Arecibo is a coastal town located on the north coast of Puerto Rico.  Cueva del Indio is a popular natural attraction located on a beach that features natural rock formations and breathtaking views of the ocean. From Cueva del Indio, you can see the 360 ft bronze statue of Christopher Columbus which is a bit further down the coast.  

We went to Arecibo on 10/5/2019, and while there we visited Cueva del Indio, the Arecibo lighthouse, and the statue of Christopher Columbus. Near Arecibo, along the coast, is Cueva del Indio which is a rocky coastal area that includes a series of 7 large arches into the ocean and a cave with indigenous carvings inside of it.  Years ago, we visited the Arecibo Observatory. But unfortunately, its soon going to be dismantled.

Arecibo is known for its rich history  and historic landmarks. The town is famous for its Arecibo Observatory located in the mountains to the south, which was once the largest radio telescopes in the world. It has been featured in movies like "Contact" and is a popular destination for science enthusiasts. The Arecibo Lighthouse, which was built in the 1890s, provides a beacon for ships entering the harbor. The area also has several museums and cultural centers, including the Arecibo Museum of Art and History and the Cemi Museum, which showcases the indigenous history of the island.

Other nearby attractions include Cueva Ventana, Cavernas del Camuy Tanama RiverTunnel of Guajataca, and Castillo Labadie

The town of Arecibo is also known for its lively festivals and celebrations. The annual Fiestas Patronales de Arecibo is a popular festival that takes place in honor of the town's patron saint, Saint Philip the Apostle. The festival features parades, live music, traditional food, and carnival rides.
