Jayuya is a located in the central mountain region of Puerto Rico

It is situated in the Cordillera Central range and is known for its lush green landscapes, rugged terrain, and stunning mountain views. The town is approximately 1,637 feet above sea level. The highest mountains of the island are located here. The region is known for growing coffee and tomatoes.

We visited Jayuya on 7/25/2021. While there, we visited the Cemi Museum, La Piedra Escrita, and the Aerostat Balloon and Zipline park. There are great views of the surrounding mountains from the 3,200 ft. aerostat balloon platform.

Jayuya is the home to several notable attractions, including the Cemi Museum, which showcases artifacts and exhibits related to the Taino people, who were early inhabitants of Puerto Rico. Other popular sites in the town include the Casa Museo Canales, which is a museum dedicated to the life and work of local poet and independence activist, Dr. Pedro Albizu Campos.

Jayuya is also known for its coffee production, and visitors can explore coffee plantations and sample some of the island's finest coffee. The town is also renowned for its annual coffee festival, which celebrates the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the area.

Cemi Museum

This fish shaped museum contains artifacts related to the early Taino inhabitants.

Nemesio Canales Museum

This is a museum dedicated to the life and work of local poet and independence activist, Dr. Pedro Albizu Campos.

La Piedra Escrita

Here you can view ancient petrographs on boulder in a stream.

Aerostat Balloon and Zipline

When the aerostat lifts, it reaches 3,500 feet where it has a panoramic view of 360 degrees. The aerostat was damaged by a hurricane and is supposed to reopen. However, you can still go up to the platform or zipline at the site.
