What to see and do in La Guaria, Venezuela

La Guaira is a port city located in the state of Vargas in northern Venezuela

It is one of the main ports in the country, serving as a gateway for trade and commerce between Venezuela and the rest of the world. The city is located on the coast of the Caribbean Sea and is surrounded by lush green mountains.

We  visited La Guaria, Venezuela on 4/26/2016.  But because we are US citizens, we were not allowed to go ashore in Venezuela.  So, we spent the day people watching from the ship.  We tried to get a visa before our trip but were not successful in doing so.

The city has a rich history, dating back to the early days of Spanish colonization in South America. During the colonial period, La Guaira was an important port for the export of coffee, cocoa, and other products from the interior of Venezuela.

Today, La Guaira remains an important economic center for Venezuela, with a thriving port and busy commercial sector. The city is also known for its beautiful beaches and vibrant culture, with many festivals and cultural events taking place throughout the year.

Despite its significance to the country, La Guaira has been hit hard by the political and economic crisis that has gripped Venezuela in recent years. Nevertheless, the city remains a vital part of the national fabric, and its residents are known for their resilience and determination in the face of adversity.
