What to see and do in Milford, Connecticut

Milford, Connecticut  is a small coastal town on the Long Island Sound

It was established in 1639 and originally called Wepawaug, after the small river which runs through the town.   Milford is known for its picturesque shoreline, which includes several beaches and parks.

On 10/27/2011, we walked around the downtown area and had lunch at the Seven Seas restaurant.

 Silver Sands State Park, one of the most popular attractions in the area, features a boardwalk, nature trails, and a wide beach with views of Charles Island. Other notable beaches include Walnut Beach and Gulf Beach.

Milford is also home to the Connecticut Audubon Society Coastal Center at Milford Point, a bird sanctuary and environmental education center that offers programs and events for visitors of all ages. The city is also home to a variety of cultural institutions, including the Milford Arts Council and the Milford Center for the Arts.

In addition to its natural beauty and cultural amenities, has been recognized by several publications as one of the best places to live in Connecticut, thanks to its low crime rate, thriving downtown area, and vibrant community.
