
What to see and do at Oukaimeden, Morocco
Oukaimeden is a ski resort located in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco
It is located 45 miles south of Marrakesh and is a great place for hiking in the summer and skiing in winter. Oukaimeden has the highest ski lift in Africa (10,825 feet).
We visited Oukaimeden on 4/15/2012. While there, we rode the ski lift to the top of the mountain which provided a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and westward to the coast.
The ski season in Oukaimeden typically lasts from December to April, with the best skiing conditions usually occurring in January and February. The resort features six ski lifts, including two chairlifts and four drag lifts, and offers a variety of runs for skiers and snowboarders of all levels.
In addition to skiing, Oukaimeden is also a popular destination for hiking, trekking, and mountaineering in the summer months. The area is known for its stunning natural beauty, with rugged peaks, deep valleys, and picturesque Berber villages scattered throughout the landscape.
