What to see and do at Playa Vacia Talega, Puerto Rico
Playa Vacia Talega, Puerto Rico is a picturesque, crescent-shaped Caribbean beach
It is located along highway 187 in Loíza. The beach is known for its calm, shallow waters that stretch from the shore to the protective reef. This makes it a popular destination for families and swimmers. The water depth at this distance is about seven feet.
Locals frequent this beach at Playa Vacia Talega Puerto Rico, so it can get crowded during weekends and holidays. Nearby kiosks offer local street food.
If you’re up for exploration, there are two trails on the east end of the beach. The trail at the far right end of the beach takes you through mangroves to high cliffs along the ocean. Waves break against the cliffs spraying water onto the ground.
The second trail at the right end of the beach is not far from the road. It takes you through a seagrape forest to Cueva Escondida. It is a cave in the cliff along the beach.
We visited the beach at Playa Vacia Talega Puerto Rico on 4/6/2024. While there we hiked both the trails. The trailheads are somewhat difficult to locate and use of the gps on your phone is recommended.
Be careful and don't get too close to the edge of the cliffs. Also don't venture down to the beach if the seas are rough.
