What to see and do at Playacar, Mexico

Playacar is a gated community on the southside of Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.

It includes private homes and numerous resort hotels.  It is within walking distance of downtown Playa Del Carmen. It is part of the larger tourist destination of the Riviera Maya, which is known for its beautiful beaches, turquoise waters, and diverse array of activities and attractions.

We stayed at the Viva Wyndham all inclusive resort while we were there and really enjoyed it. From the resort, we walked to Playa Del Carmen and visited several small Mayan ruins that were along the way.

One of the main draws of Playacar is its proximity to the stunning beaches of the Riviera Maya. The community has its own private beach, which is reserved for residents and guests of the Playacar resorts. The beach features white sand, crystal-clear water, and a variety of water sports and activities, including snorkeling, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding.

In addition to its natural beauty and resort amenities, Playacar is also known for its rich history and culture. The community is built on the site of an ancient Mayan city, and there are many archaeological sites and ruins to explore in the surrounding area. Visitors can also learn about traditional Mexican culture and cuisine, and experience local festivals and events.
