What to see and do in Rotterdam, Netherlands

Rotterdam is a seaport in the Netherlands on the North Sea and is the largest seaport in Europe

Rotterdam is a city in the western part of the Netherlands. It is the second largest city in the country, after Amsterdam, and is known for its modern architecture, large port, and vibrant cultural scene.

On 9/21/2007, we visited Rotterdam by ship and traveled by bus thru the city to Amsterdam. . Built mostly behind dikes, large parts of the Rotterdam are below sea level. 

The city was heavily damaged during World War II, but has since been reconstructed and transformed into a thriving economic center. The port of Rotterdam is one of the largest and busiest in the world, handling a significant portion of Europe's cargo traffic.

In addition to its modern architecture and thriving business district, Rotterdam is also home to several museums, including the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and the Maritime Museum, as well as a number of theaters, concert halls, and other cultural institutions. The city also has a lively nightlife, with a range of bars, clubs, and restaurants to suit all tastes.

Overall, Rotterdam is a diverse and dynamic city that offers something for everyone, from its rich cultural heritage to its modern, cosmopolitan atmosphere.
