What to see and do in Seattle, Washington

Seattle, Washington is a major seaport located on Puget Sound in the Pacific Northwest.

The city was named in honor of Chief Si'ahl of the local Duwamish and Suquamish tribes in 1852. 

One of Seattle's most famous landmarks is the Space Needle, which was built for the 1962 World's Fair. It offers stunning views of the city and surrounding area. Other popular attractions include Pike Place Market, which features fresh seafood, flowers, and produce, and the Chihuly Garden and Glass museum, which showcases the work of the renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly.

We have visited Seattle several times.  Most recently in May, 2019. While there, we went to the Space Needle, Pike Place Market, the waterfront, and the Red Hook brewery. On one of our trips to Seattle,  we rented a car and visited Mount Rainier. The next day we drove to Ocean City and then up the coast circling around the Olympic peninsula and taking the ferry across Puget sound back to Seattle.

Seattle is also home to many tech companies, including Amazon, Microsoft, and Boeing. This has led to a strong economy and a high cost of living in the city. The city is surrounded by water, mountains, and forests, making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. There are many parks and hiking trails within city limits, and the nearby Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges offer even more opportunities for outdoor recreation.

Overall, Seattle is a vibrant and dynamic city with a lot to offer, from its thriving tech industry to its beautiful natural surroundings.
