What to see and do in Sedona, Arizona

Sedona, Arizona is known for its stunning red sandstone rock formations and natural beauty

is located in the northern part of Arizona, about 120 miles north of Phoenix, and is situated in the Verde Valley.  It is a popular tourist destination known for its stunning red sandstone rock formations and natural beauty. The rock formations appear brilliant orange and red when lighted by the rising or setting sun. 

On 12/4/2015, we drove east to Flagstaff on I-40 and were able to view Humphreys Peak. From Flagstaff, traveled south to Sedona on highway 89A. The road winds down thru the valley to the town of Sedona.  We had lunch in Sedona and then followed the same route back and continued on to the Grand Canyon.

One of the main attractions of Sedona is its red rock formations, which were formed by millions of years of erosion and weathering. Some of the most famous formations include Cathedral Rock, Bell Rock, and Snoopy Rock. These formations are popular for hiking, rock climbing, and photography.

Sedona is also home to a number of art galleries, spas, and restaurants. The city has a thriving arts scene, with many local artists specializing in painting, sculpture, and jewelry-making. There are also many opportunities for outdoor recreation, such as mountain biking, horseback riding, and hot air balloon rides.
