The park offers over four miles of trails, including boardwalks that weave through mangrove forests and raised platforms that offer sweeping views of the estuary below. The tower overlook on the main trail is a favorite—climb up for a panoramic view of the bay, marshes, and tree canopies, especially beautiful at sunrise or sunset.

If you prefer water over land, Weedon Island is a paradise for paddlers. The South Paddling Trail winds through a maze of mangrove tunnels and shallow lagoons that make you feel like you've entered another world. The route is peaceful, often shaded, and teeming with wildlife. It’s not uncommon to spot manatees, dolphins, stingrays, and all kinds of wading birds as you quietly make your way through the waterways.

The preserve is also a major birding destination. From roseate spoonbills to ospreys and red-shouldered hawks, birdwatchers are in for a treat year-round. Just bring binoculars, a camera, and a bit of patience. Weedon Island is part of the Great Florida Birding Trail for a reason.

Inside the Weedon Island Cultural and Natural History Center, you can learn about the area’s archaeological significance, local ecology, and the ongoing conservation efforts to protect this vital habitat.

Despite being surrounded by development, Weedon Island feels untouched. That’s thanks in part to the local commitment to conservation. There’s no camping, no loud events, and no commercialization. Just nature, as it’s meant to be experienced.
