What to see and do in Cannes, France

Cannes is a city located on the French Riviera in the southeast of France whch is well-known for its beautiful beaches and its annual film festival, the Cannes Film Festival.

The festival was founded in 1946 and has since become one of the most prestigious events in the film industry, attracting famous filmmakers, actors, and celebrities from all over the world.

On 5/24/2007, we visited Cannes. While there, we took a trolly tour of the city and then walked the downtown area. 

In addition to the film festival, Cannes is also popular for its luxurious shopping, fine dining, and vibrant nightlife. The city is home to several famous landmarks, including the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, which is the main venue for the Cannes Film Festival, and the historic castle of Le Suquet, which offers panoramic views of the city and the Mediterranean Sea.

Cannes is also a popular destination for tourists, who come to enjoy the city's Mediterranean climate, its picturesque scenery, and its rich cultural heritage. Visitors can take leisurely walks along the Promenade de la Croisette, explore the narrow streets of the old town, or simply relax on the beach and soak up the sun.
