What to see and do in Zurich, Switzerland

Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland and is located in the northern part of the country. 

Over 2,000 years ago, Zürich was founded by the Romans, who called it Turicum.  It is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city with a rich history and culture. Zurich is known for its beautiful architecture, museums, galleries, and theaters. The city is situated on the banks of the Limmat River and is surrounded by the Alps.  

We were in Zurich for a very short time as we made our connection from the United States to Venice and then again as we traveled from Venice back to the United States. 

Zurich is a global center for finance, business, and innovation, and is home to many international companies and organizations. The city has a high standard of living and is considered one of the most livable cities in the world. Zurich Airport and Zürich's main railway station are the largest and busiest in the country. 

In addition to its modern infrastructure and global influence, Zurich has a rich cultural heritage. The city has a number of museums and galleries, including the Kunsthaus Zurich, which houses an extensive collection of Swiss art, and the Swiss National Museum, which showcases the history and culture of Switzerland. Zurich is also known for its beautiful churches, including the Fraumünster and Grossmünster, which date back to the medieval period.

Zurich is a great destination for outdoor enthusiasts, as the city is surrounded by beautiful natural scenery. There are many parks and gardens within the city, including the beautiful Zurich Botanical Garden. The city is also a great base for exploring the Swiss Alps, which are just a short distance away.
