What to see and do in Denver, Colorado

Denver is located just east of the Rocky Mountains and is the capital of the state of Colorado

Denver is located in the South Platte River Valley on the western edge of the High Plains just east of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains.  It is the capital of Colorado. Denver is situated at the base of the Rocky Mountains and has an elevation of about 1 mile above sea level, earning it the nickname "The Mile High City". 

 On 7/18/2010, I spent several days in Denver and wandered through the downtown area viewing the sites of the city.

Denver is known for its beautiful scenery, outdoor recreational opportunities, and diverse culture. Popular attractions include the Denver Art Museum, the Denver Botanic Gardens, the Denver Zoo, and the Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater. The city is also home to several professional sports teams, including the Denver Broncos football team, the Colorado Rockies baseball team, and the Denver Nuggets basketball team.

In recent years, Denver has experienced significant growth and development, with a thriving economy and a strong job market. The city is also known for its craft beer scene and has been named one of the best cities in the country for foodies.

The official elevation of Denver is one mile above sea level.  The benchmark for the elevation is on the steps of the Colorado State Capitol building.
