What to see and do in Glasgow, Scotland

Glasgow is a port city on the River Clyde and is the largest city in Scotland

Glasgow grew from a small rural settlement on the River Clyde to become the largest seaport in Scotland. The city owes it's prosperity due to trade and shipbuilding. It is known for its rich history, vibrant cultural scene, and friendly people.

We visited Glasgow on 6/12/2022. While there, we drove through the city viewing many of the notable sites there.

One of the things that Glasgow is perhaps most famous for is its architecture, particularly its Victorian and art nouveau buildings. The city has many stunning landmarks, including the Glasgow Cathedral, the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, and the Riverside Museum of Transport and Travel.

Glasgow is also a hub for music, and has a thriving music scene. The city has produced many famous musicians, including Franz Ferdinand, Simple Minds, and Primal Scream, and hosts a range of music festivals and events throughout the year. In terms of sports, Glasgow is home to two major football teams, Celtic and Rangers, and is known for its passion for the sport. The city has also hosted a number of major sporting events over the years, including the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Glasgow is also renowned for its friendly people, who are known for their warmth and hospitality. The city has a diverse population, with many different cultures and communities represented, and is often described as a very welcoming and inclusive place.

Overall, Glasgow is a vibrant, bustling city with a rich cultural heritage and plenty to see and do.

The Tradeston Bridge  is also known as the 'Squiggly bridge'. This pedestrian bridge across river Clyde connects IFSD to Buchanan Wharf.

Glasgow is famed for its Victorian and art nouveau architecture.
