
What to see and do at Los Chiles, Nicaragua and Costa Rica
Los Chiles is a small town located in the northern part of Costa Rica, near the border with Nicaragua.
It is situated in the province of Alajuela, near the border with Nicaragua.
On 8/21/2016, we took a boat trip up the Rio Frio river in Costa Rica to the border with Nicaragua and briefly crossed over the border there. There was lots of wildlife to see along the river.
The town is known for its lush green landscapes and scenic beauty, surrounded by lush tropical forests, rivers, and lakes. It is a popular destination for ecotourism and adventure sports, with activities such as fishing, boating, and wildlife watching being popular among visitors.
Los Chiles is also famous for its local cuisine, which includes dishes made with fresh fish from the nearby rivers and lakes. Additionally, the town is a hub for the production of traditional handicrafts and ceramics, which are popular souvenirs among visitors.
In terms of transportation, Los Chiles is well-connected by road to the rest of Costa Rica and there are several daily bus services available to and from the town. Overall, Los Chiles is a beautiful and peaceful destination that offers a unique and authentic experience for visitors to Costa Rica.
