What to see and do at Playa Colora, Puerto Rico

Playa Colora beach is known for its unique orange-red sand

Playa Colora is a Caribbean beach located in the northeastern coast of Puerto Rico, northeast of the of Seven Seas Beach. The beach is known for its unique orange-red sand, which is a result of the erosion of the nearby cliffs made of red sandstone.

We visited Playa Colora on 9/3/2022.  To reach Playa Colora,  we hiked for about 15 minutes from the west end of Seven Seas Beach through a mangrove forest.

The beach is situated in a somewhat remote location, which gives it a secluded and peaceful atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy the tranquil waters of the Caribbean Sea, relax on the beach, and take in the stunning views of the surrounding cliffs and natural landscape.

It's worth noting that the beach is not very developed in terms of amenities, so visitors should come prepared with everything they need for a day at the beach, including food, water, and sunscreen. However, the lack of development also adds to the beach's natural and unspoiled beauty.

Overall, Playa Colora is a unique and picturesque beach in Puerto Rico that offers visitors a chance to escape the crowds and enjoy a peaceful day in nature.

 Follow the sign towards Playa Escondida and you will see a sign to Playa Colora on the right hand side of the trail before reaching Playa Escondida.
