Hanauma Bay is a beautiful and popular snorkeling spot in Hawaii, located on the southeast coast of Oahu.

It is a marine life conservation area and a nature preserve, formed within a volcanic cone. The bay is filled with hundreds of species of fish, coral, and other aquatic creatures.

Hanauma Bay is a state park with an entrance fee for parking.  If you wish to go swimming or snorkeling, you must make a reservation in advance. Visitors are advised not to go snorkeling within 3 day after arriving to Hawaii by air.

We visited Hanauma Bay on 12/15/2023.   Because of the high winds and cool temperature, we did not go swimming or snorkeling in the park.  Instead, we walked the trails and went to the overlooks in the park.
