Koko Crater is an extinct volcano on the island of Oahu, Hawaii 

Koko Crater is also known as Kohelepelepe or Puu Mai. It is part of the Honolulu Volcanics, a series of volcanic eruptions that occurred on Oahu about 7,000 years ago. Koko Crater is the tallest and most preserved cone in the area, with an elevation of 1,208 feet above sea level.

On 12/15/2023, we visited Hanauma Bay, Lahani Lookout, Haona Blowhole Lookout, and Wawamulu Beach park which are located on highway 72 where the lower edge of the volcano reaches the ocean. Koko Crater Botanical Garden is located in the east end of the crater.

During World War II, the US military built bunkers and a railway on top of the crater. Today, the railway is a popular hiking trail that offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
