Makapuu Point is the easternmost point on the island of Oahu in Hawaii.

It is a popular hiking spot that offers stunning views of the coastline, the ocean, Makapuu Beach, and the historic Makapuu Lighthouse. The lighthouse was built in 1909 and has the largest lens of any lighthouse in the United States. Makapuu Point is also a great place to see migrating humpback whales from November to May.

We visited Makapuu Point on 12/15/2023.  We stopped at the Makapuu Lookout but were unable to see any whales due to high winds and rough seas.  We then drove up the coast to Makapuu Beach where we had a good view of Makapuu Point and Makapuu Lighthouse.
