Hookipa Beach, Maui, Hawaii is considered the most renowned windsurfing site in the world

Hookipa beach is on the north shore of Maui in Hawaii. The winds here are consistently strong and large well-shaped waves break across the reefs that extend across the bay. This makes it ideal for the sport of windsurfing. The beach is also a popular spot for surfing and viewing sea turtles which rest on the beach during the day.

We stopped here at Hookipa point on 12/17/2023 as we were headed to Hana. From the point, we walked down to the beach to get a closer look at the sea turtles. The waves were very high and there were numerous people surfing there.

The word Hookipa means hospitality in Hawaiian.
