What to see and do at Las Pailas, Puerto Rico
Las Pailas is a popular place for people to slide down a waterfall in Puerto Rico
Located on Highway 983, Las Pailas (or Las Paylas) on the Pitayaha river in the tropical Caribbean rainforest near Luquillo. There are several houses here that have a few parking places that they charge per car to park there. The one where we parked had a concrete stairway from the road down to the base of the waterfall.
While we were visiting there on 9/4/2022, a tour group and several individuals were sliding down the upper falls. This is an activity that you do at your own risk.
Downstream from the cascades is the lower slide. It is a straight course into a deep pool the river. Some people were swimming there.
