What to see and do in Montreal, Canada
Montreal is situated on the Island of Montreal at the confluence of the Saint Lawrence and Ottawa rivers
The city offers many attractions and activities for visitors. The Old Montreal historic district with its cobblestone streets preserves architecture of the colonial era. Here you can visit landmarks such as the Notre-Dame Basilica, the Place d'Armes, and the Bonsecours Market. While most of the signage is in French, both French and English are widely spoken in the city.
From Burlington, Vermont, I drove to and visited Montreal on 4/29/2023. While there, I visited the historic district and the Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral. I then drove to the Saint Joseph's Oratory which overlooks the city from Mount Royal. Afterwards, I went to Mount Royal Park where I hiked through the park to the Mount Royal Cross and the Chalet du Mont-Royal. My next stop was the Olympic Park and the Montreal Botanical Garden.
At the top of Mount Royal, is the Mount Royal Park, the Chalet du Mont-Royal, the Mount Royal Cross, the Belvedere Kondiaronk, and the Saint Joseph's Oratory. Many of these places offer a panoramic view of the city.
The Montreal Biodome is located in Olympic Park and adjacent to the Montreal Botanical Garden and the Montreal Insectarium.
Located on an island in the St Lawrence River, La Ronde is an amusement park that features over 40 rides and attractions, including roller coasters, water slides, and a Ferris wheel.
