What to see and do at the Spouting Horn, Kauai, Hawaii

The Spouting Horn blowhole in Kauai, Hawaii creates the sound of a horn as it spouts off

At the Spouting Horn Park, a blowhole blasts a plume of sea water up into the air. It is called the Spouting Horn because it also creates the sound of a horn as it spouts off. This waterspout occurs whenever waves are forced under the lava shelf and up through an opening in the rocks. Depending on the tide and ocean conditions, the water can shoot up to 50 feet into the air. If the lighting is right, you may be able to view a rainbow in the sea spray. ​

The Spouting Horn Park is located on the south coast of the island of Kauai near the town of Poipu in Hawaii. The National Tropical Botanical Gardens is located across the road from the Spouting Horn Park.

We visited the Spouting Horn Park on 12/23/2023 and were able to view the waterspout and listen to the sounds from the blowhole.
