What to see and do in Los Fuentes, Roatan, Honduras
Las Fuentes is a popular snorkeling site located on the island of Roatan, which is part of the Bay Islands of Honduras
The site is located near the western end of the island, about a 25-minute drive from the main town of Coxen Hole.
On our second trip to Roatan on 3/16/2022, we anchored off shore and tendered to the dock in Coxen Bay. We took an excursion through Eco-Jungle Adventure Tours which took us to Maya Eden in Coxen Hole, then to Los Fuentes where we rode ATVs thru the jungle, and from there to the beach at El Velero Azul in Las Palmas. After spending time at the beach, we returned to Coxen Hole.
Las Fuentes is known for its clear waters and abundant marine life, including colorful tropical fish, rays, eels, and even the occasional sea turtle. The site features a series of underwater coral formations that provide a habitat for the diverse marine species.
Visitors to Las Fuentes can explore the underwater world by snorkeling or diving, either on their own or with a guided tour. The site is suitable for both beginners and experienced snorkelers and divers. The water is generally calm and the visibility is excellent, allowing visitors to see the vibrant marine life up close.
In addition to snorkeling and diving, Las Fuentes offers other activities such as kayaking, paddleboarding, and beachcombing. There are also several restaurants and bars nearby where visitors can relax and enjoy the island's laid-back atmosphere.
